The blonde breakdown
Forget the one-size-fits-all approach; blonde is anything but a single note. From palest platinum to deepest golden brunette, the spectrum is vast – and mastering the nuance is what separates an intentional look from a happy accident.
Here’s every shade of blonde that’s trending now, fresh from the chairs of the specialists at Blue Tit London.
Can anyone go blonde?
Short answer: yes. “I’m personally a firm believer that anyone can go blonde, anyone can achieve a blonde colour no matter what colour they start from,” says Blue Tit London’s Colour & Technical Director Declan Haworth. “It’s just about choosing the correct tonality of blonde.” The 13 shades below are a good place to start.
Honey blonde
Warmer than golden, richer than caramel. Honey blonde takes its cues from the amber tones of raw honey: deep, warm and faintly golden, with a natural translucency that makes it look genuinely organic on a range of skin tones. It’s a shade that flatters without trying too hard and ages well between appointments, making it a strong choice for lower-maintenance hair colour.

Creamy blonde
Rich, soft and unmistakably luxurious, creamy blonde is the shade that looks like it costs something. The right picture was achieved through a scalp bleach and a carefully chosen warm toner by Abbie from Blue Tit East Village. It sits somewhere between platinum and golden.

Declan Haworth says: “Creamy blonde works especially well on medium to long lengths, where the depth and movement of the colour can really be appreciated.”

Neutral warm blonde
The chameleon of the blonde world. Neutral warm blonde sits in the sweet spot between cool and warm with just enough golden undertone to feel alive without ever tipping into brassiness. Particularly flattering on deeper or olive skin tones. “It looks very cool-toned, but it’s not without any gold reflections,” explains Declan Haworth, Colour & Technical Director. “It has that very beautiful illuminosity.”
Cool-toned reverse balayage

A more directional take on blonde. Where traditional balayage lightens from root to tip, reverse balayage flips the formula – dark, shadow-rich roots melt down into cool platinum or ash lengths. It’s high-contrast, considered and deeply current, with a moody quality that sets it apart from softer blonde styles.

Bronde
The shade that refuses to pick a side and is all the better for it. Bronde splits the difference between brunette and blonde. Here, Aimee from Blue Tit Leyton used half-head highlights and a root melt to create a seamless, dimensional result. The root melt softens the line between your natural base and the lightened lengths into something that looks entirely lived-in. It’s low maintenance by design.
Golden balayage
The lived-in blonde to rule them all: golden balayage. “If you want slightly lower maintenance, I’d recommend a lived-in blonde shade,” says Declan Haworth. “From a tone point of view, you can go for a buttery blonde, slightly more golden and reflective, through to slightly cooler-toned beige blondes.” Translation: there’s a version of this for everyone.

Mushroom blonde
Mushroom blonde is one of the more interesting blonde hair shades of recent years. “It’s got a goldness to it… but also a coolness,” explains Declan Haworth. “It’s almost a trick of the eye, where it sits in between those two tones.” Earthy, muted and quietly sophisticated, it works particularly well on natural brunette bases.

For curly hair, extra care is essential. “When bleaching textured hair, there’s a risk of damaging the curl pattern,” notes Declan. “The last thing anyone would want to do is lighten someone’s hair and damage that curl pattern – we’re always really careful.”

If the other blondes are indoor shades, golden blonde is perpetually outside. Sun-drenched and reflective, its warm honey-yellow tones catch the light dramatically – the effect is less salon, more six-week Mediterranean holiday. Woven through a natural base, the contrast between dark and gold creates instant depth and dimension.

Bleach blonde
The original statement blonde. Bleach blonde pushes lightness as far as it can go – near-white and porcelain. It takes commitment (in terms of both processing time and aftercare), but for those who go all the way, the result is one of the most iconic colour looks in the canon.

Platinum blonde
The coolest, brightest, most silver-white end of the blonde spectrum. All platinum blonde requires bleaching, but not all bleach blonde achieves platinum. To get there you typically need a toner on top of the bleach to neutralise any remaining yellow or brassy tones and land on that clean, icy finish.
Teddy bear blonde
Teddy bear blonde bridges the gap between warm blonde and light brunette – golden, toasty and soft-focus. “From that cosy teddy bear-coloured warm golden blonde to a deeper golden, beige brunette, these wearable lived-in tones giving that ‘brondze’ feeling are so popular on all hair lengths,” says Aileas, Stylist at Blue Tit Crouch Hill. “Mixing a light shade of brunette with a honey blonde tone feels luxurious with the perfect amount of light for the darker months.”

Natural blonde
Natural blonde mimics the kind of multi-tonal colour the sun creates over years, sometimes slightly lighter at the ends, with a seamless blend at the root. A beige toner is often the secret weapon here. “From a colourist point of view, beige blonde is a neutral colour. It’s the mixture of a cool and a warm tone,” says Declan Haworth. The result is hair that reads as effortlessly natural.
Cool ash blonde
The coolest blonde on the spectrum and one of the most in-demand. Ash blonde strips back warmth entirely, landing in smoky, almost grey-inflected territory. This look started from a dark brown base; the journey requires careful staged lightening, but the result is a precision-cool finish that looks polished in every light.
