The Hair Trends To Try From Fashion Month SS19
The fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris are always big inspiration, but we all know the out-there catwalk hair can be pretty off-putting to try at home. That’s why we asked two of our top stylists to pick their favourite wearable looks, and show you how to recreate them for real life.
1) WET LOOK ROOTS
Our Topshop salon manager Oli loved the slicked-back looks at London designer Rejina Pyo’s show.
Why Oli loves it:
“The wet look was everywhere at London Fashion Week. Hairdresser Sam McKnight did it at Ashish, Euegine Souleiman for Preen and Guido Palau for Victoria Beckham. But my favourite interpretation of the trend was definitely Tina Outen for Rejina Pyo, where she created a dual finish with wet look on top and dry textured ends. It looks so strong and and sexy but is also super easy to style yourself.”
How to create the look at home:
1) Starting with clean damp hair apply a generous amount of Davines Strong Hold Cream Gel to your the upper section of your hair. Comb back, still leaving the rest product free. From this point you can leave down or even pop it up in a slick ponytail.
2) To the mid-lengths and ends, apply Davines Sea Salt Spray sparingly or Davines Love Curl Definition Spray. Then using a diffuser, dry those ends creating a textured and total opposite finish to the top part. Wrap a tong round those ends for straighter hair to give the wave more definition.
2) THE 70 TOPKNOT
Clapton stylist Imogen went for the chic topknots at Fendi’s Milan show.
Why Imogen loves it:
“I’m really into the contrast between the sleek topknot and softness of the baby hair here. It’s simple but effective! It’s super easy to recreate and very wearable day to day.”
How to create the look at home:
1) To start, you will need to create a high pony tail. Brush your hair through to remove any knots, then tip your head upside down and grab all of your hair. I find this the easiest way to make a smooth pony tail.
2) Use your hands to position the pony tail where your want it. The higher the better! Once your ponytail is in the right position secure with the hair band. To create the top-knot, twist the ponytail to the tip of the hair and then wrap it round itself. Secure this with hair grips and tease out any baby hair around the hair line. Smooth out any bumps and finish off with some hairspray.
