Pixie Cut Transformations from Bradley Staff
Hey everyone, Bradley here, Level 3 Stylist and Colourist at Blue Tit Dalston. Today, I’m sharing not one, but two pixie cut transformations I created. Both styles are short, sharp and full of character but with totally different vibes. Let’s take a look.
Pixie power: A classic with a twist
The pixie cut is back and is trending across our London salons. From the vintage icons of the 50s and 60s, think Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Twiggy to modern muses like Emma Stone, Ayra Starr and Iris Law, it’s a style that constantly evolves.
Transformation 1: Adding texture and femininity
My first client opted for a soft, textured pixie with a micro fringe. We kept the finish feminine with soft edges and a touch of lived-in movement, styling it with Oway Boho Pomade for natural definition and medium hold. The result? Casual cool with a graceful twist.
Transformation 2: Hepburn-inspired with a modern edge
The second look took cues from a slightly earlier pixie style of the 1950s, with a pixie cut inspired by Audrey Hepburn, reimagined with a modern edge. I styled it using Oway Precious Wax for a high-shine finish and stronger hold. Polished, chic and timeless.
Why choose a pixie cut?
A pixie cut can be a total style reset, bold, confident and incredibly low maintenance once it’s shaped to suit you. It opens up the face, enhances bone structure and is ideal if you’re ready for something fresh, fashion-forward and a bit fearless.
Here in London, we’re seeing a definite pixie revival. It’s become a favourite for those looking to stand out with a tailored, editorial feel.
Can you get a pixie cut with any hair type?
In most cases, yes. Pixie cuts work well on straight, wavy and some curly hair types, but the cut needs to be customised to your natural texture. If your hair is very thick or coily, we may adapt the shape or weight distribution to ensure it sits just right. A good consultation is key, it’s all about finding the version that works best for you.
Pros and cons of a pixie cut
Pros:
- Quick to wash, dry and style
- Emphasises your features and face shape
- A statement look with lots of versatility
- Great for showcasing colour or highlights
Cons:
- Needs regular trims to maintain shape
- Growing it out requires patience (and a few transitional cuts)
Different ways to style a pixie cut
Pixies may be short, but they’re far from one-dimensional. A few of my go-to looks:
- Textured and tousled – using a matte pomade or salt spray
- Glossy and slicked back – for a more refined, editorial vibe
- Statement fringe – a side fringe for softness around the face or a short one for a striking look
- Accessorised – headbands, clips or even bold earrings to elevate the look
Whether you want effortless cool or red carpet polish, there’s a pixie for that.
