To set the scene, it’s Friday night in the Blue Tit Clapton hair salon and what better way to perk things up than to have a cool yet casual take on a “Girls Night In”.
The owners from the social shopping app Depop decided to host an evening in our Clapton salon where they invited some of Instagram’s most influential, fashion conscious girls in for a little hair makeover.
With prosecco and beats flowing, Harriet our colourist (with the helping hand of Rumer our lovely assistant) gave Erika Bowes a pink transformation, a natural wave ‘up-do’ was given to Amy to really show off her colourful mermaid hair. The girls then gave blogger Amy Vagabond a cool toner to her ends enhancing her balayage hair.
The event was a massive success and all the girls went away well and truly pampered. Check out more on our Instagram page or follow all three to see their full looks.
BLUE TIT HITS UP UK BOUTIQUE FESTIVALS
Since our fourth year anniversary is upon us at Blue Tit we decided what better way to celebrate summer than pitching up our salon at some of the UK’s most sought after boutique festivals.
Back in July we set up our ‘Secret Salon’ within the Sanctuary at Secret Garden Party. Exploring the latest in festival hair trends and laying on the theme of childhood memory, there were beauty blow-drys, colourful braids and plenty of glitter!
After a huge (and tiring) success at SGP, the Blue Tit tribe moved a little bit closer to home and set up base at Hertfordshire’s Standon Calling. With a more chilled vibe, our stylists used Urban Outfitters hair chalks from cool blues to vibrant purples giving everyone –including the boys, a bold eye catching look. Fishtail plaits and ruffled curls were enough to make lovely singer Charlotte OC visit the salon for that perfect boho look before going on stage.
To find out more, our friends over at Notion Magazine gave us a great fashion feature review, check it out here.
Keep up to date with the latest in festival hair and summer trends on our Instagram page… Watch this space as we’re only just getting started!
TEI SHI GOES ORANGE FOR FIELD DAY
Images courtesy of The Line Of Best Fit
Brooklyn-based singer Tei Shi first hit our radar when we spotted her electric green hair on the cover of Crack magazine – and it wasn’t long before the electro-meets-RnB sounds of ‘Bassically‘ was a regular on the Blue Tit playlist. So with Field Day coming up, we thought we’d invite her over to our Dalston salon for a new festival haircut. Here’s what we chatted about as Sam and Pont transformed her hair into a bright orange bob.
How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it before?
I think my music’s quite eclectic so in that spirit I avoid describing it too much. When people ask me I usually just play it for them! If you label yourself people might already have their judgements on that style and might assume they wouldn’t like it – I try to make music that’s different to any genre.
You’re often compared to FKA Twigs. What do you think of that?
It’s really nice to be likened to people that you respect and admire. My favourite comparison was a mixture of Feist and FKA Twigs which was definitely cool. I wouldn’t want to be the ‘next’ anyone, but it’s still cool to read that about yourself.
Are you excited to play Field Day?
I’m a bit nervous! I haven’t really played big festivals like this before so there’s a whole lot of new nerves when you’re playing to that many people. The crowds in Europe have been really fun and welcoming so far though.
Tell us about your new cut for Field Day.
I’m having it cut shorter into a blunt bob and dyeing it bright orange. I didn’t tell the rest of the band what I was doing today… I’m going to turn up with this crazy hair and they’ll be like ‘what?!
Do you like experimenting with your hair?
Definitely. My hair’s naturally a dark brown but in the last year I’ve bleached it white, gone green, back to blonde and now this bright orange. I just get so bored with it.
How’s your Blue Tit experience been?
Amazing. The most perfect day in the middle of a busy tour. I’ve been drinking delicious smoothies and coffee and they use great products on your hair – they really look after you.
What are you wearing to Field Day?
I’ll have to wear something to go with my hair – so maybe something neutral. Performing is always a good excuse to wear something more out-there – this hair colour will do that.
What’s your ultimate hair care tip?
Moisture! I once had a hair disaster where my hair got really dry and started falling out in clumps – so I always try to use a good conditioner and hair oil to keep it healthy. I recently got an Olaplex treatment which was honestly amazing. it was an overnight transformation.
What’s next for you?
This whole year has been focussed around touring and live shows so I haven’t had much chance to be creative. But after that, recording will be my focus – putting the beginnings of an album together. I’m going to move to Montreal and just focus on making music!

Press Days AW15
Blue Tit were lucky enough to be able to attend Press Days for AW15 collections at Adidas, Crooks&Castles and Arcadia recently, and we wanted to bring you along for a sneak peek of some of the key pieces we spotted and will be lusting after when released in September/October. First stop was Adidas HQ, where sportswear meets highstreet was perfectly executed as always. The astronaut-inspired collection by designer Raf Simons consisted white, navy, silver and a pop of colour, whereas the Y3 collection was a colour palette of dark camouflage prints, neoprene fabrics and postbox red and royal blue.
Second stop of the day was the Crooks&Castles HQ, LA-based streetwear brand with an effortless ‘I just threw this on but it looks good anyway’ sort of vibe. The modern showroom space was incredible, full of light and wall art by the likes of artist Naturel and Pure Evil. Our favourite pick of thecollection was the royal blue jacket featured below, a great way to add a statement to a more simple outfit of a t-shirt and bottoms.
Last but certainly not least was the Arcadia Press Day. At Topshop, it was very clear that the 70’s trend currently creeping in for the summer is most definitely here to stay until Autumn/Winter. Spotted were a few printed two-pieces, a lot of suede, and we couldn’t help but covet the incredible fringed jacked. Thank you Arcadia for an awesome goody bag too, and to Adidas and Crooks&Castles for having us!
Wishing you were in the LA sun at Coachella sipping an ice-cold drink and listening to live music all weekend? Yeah, us too! But we did manage to scope out our favourite hair looks from Weekend 1 of Coachella, including a mix of vibrant colours and edgy cuts that will be inspiring our hair choices into the start of summer. The unofficial dress code for the famous music and arts festival is an eclectic mix of boho gypsy meets rock ‘n’ roll, so we knew we’d be able to find some hairstyles to help us channel our inner Coachella, at least while the sun has managed to make a cameo here in London. We’re loving the candy floss pink hair, which one is your chosen favourite?
Bird of Paradise to Blue Tit
Ever wondered what how our Brockley salon looked before it was transformed into a seventies dream? It took a lot of love, some inspiration and a few late nights to transform the Bird of paradise into Blue Tit.
The inspiration for the interior was the golden age of the seventies, a decade where culture and design evolved rapidly and futuristic shapes, clean lines and modern materials were extremely popular. We took inspiration from designers like Charles Eames with his fresh approach to open spaces; minimalistic but still with a sense of luxury. Curved veneers, leather, gold finishes and seamless flooring are all Eames-esque features of our new salon. A real departure from our other salon interiors, we hope your enjoy our new space-age pad!
Big thanks to all who came down to the launch of our new salon in Brockley last night, it was a blast! Thanks again to Propercorn and the Dimensions festival Dj’s for the excellent sounds and nibbles. A special thankyou also to our friend Rich Grewe who did an amazing job on the bar, crafting delicious raspberry and chilli daiquiris…yum
The Brockley salon is now in full swing and open for business so please pop by and take a look! We also have 50% off all services until March 24th. To book, please call the salon on 0208 305 8060 or email email@example.com

The salon will be decked out in 1970’s inspired vintage decor, and we will continue to use Davines products which are kind to both hair and the environment.
